Tampere remains Finland’s most attractive city

Tampere continues to to rank as the most attractive city in Finland. According to the latest Vetovoima & Pitovoima 2026 survey by Reputation and Trust Analytics, Tampere ranks first among all the country’s cities, maintaining the top position since the study began in 2020.

The study measures how cities are perceived by both current residents and potential future residents. Tampere’s strong result reflects a balanced combination of factors that shape everyday life, including services, education, safety, community, location and overall quality of living.

A city that works in everyday life

What sets Tampere apart is not a single factor, but how well everything works together. Work opportunities, accessible services, short distances and a strong sense of community all play a role in making daily life smooth and enjoyable. This balance is what continues to attract people to the region and what encourages many to stay.

A competitive and evolving landscape

While Tampere remains at the top, other cities are catching up. Kuopio has strengthened its position and now ranks very close behind, especially scoring high in community and safety. Turku has also improved its ranking significantly, showing growth across several areas such as services and location. This reflects a broader trend where cities across Finland are actively developing their attractiveness, making the competition for residents and talent even stronger than before.

Why Tampere continues to thrive

Even as the gap narrows, Tampere’s strength lies in consistency. The city has been able to combine growth with livability offering opportunities without many of the challenges often associated with larger cities. It is a place where career, community and everyday life come together in a way that feels natural. For international professionals, this means a city where building a career and a balanced life go hand in hand.
