CREATIVE INDUSTRIES IN TAMPERE
Creative industries turnover in Pirkanmaa in 2023 was more than 966 million euros. That includes, for instance films and TV, music, entertainment, games, product design, marketing and creative agencies, event activities and tourism. Tampere is home for such beloved events like song contest UMK and Tampere Film Festival, a short film competition widely renowned all over the world.
Tampere is one of the most active cities for film and TV productions in Finland. The local film commission, Film Tampere, has supported over 160 productions in the last eight years with the production incentive funding. Tampere is the home for over 40 indie game studios and active in the global game industry. Did you know that for instance the city-building simulation game Cities: Skylines with over 12 million copies sold, has been developed and created in Tampere? Also Simucube, the premier Finnish brand specializing in high-end, professional-grade direct drive simulators for simulation racing, and used by F1 drivers, is located in Tampere. The gaming industry is born global, therefore international workforce is always welcome in the industry.

Tampere Film Commission Film Tampere, develops the local audiovisual industry and assists national and international film and TV productions in locating to the Tampere region. From 2025 onwards Film Tampere also provides services to the game industry, from connecting gaming and AV companies to internationalization and financial consulting.
